Holography MarketPlace 4th Edition

This particular image was specifically designed to show how much depth and projection you can get out of photopolymer.

The image is a model of the Transamerica building in San Francisco and it has a beam that projects out of the hologram toward the viewer by several inches. The projection is remarkable and you will find few photopolymer or embossed holograms that can match it.

There are several things to consider when deciding to use photopolymer. First of all depth is easier to present than projection. What I mean by easier is that your image at great depth will likely be much clearer than if you tried to project the image toward the viewer. When you project a image it is very easy for it become blurry. The width of the projected image should be limited because the wider the image is the more difficult it is to clearly reconstruct out in front of the hologram. Remember that your hologram is actually reconstructing an image in space.

In light of all this, it is no accident that the artist selected a beam coming from the center of the hologram to be the model they were using for projection. The artist chose an excellent model and the beam coming out of the tower clearly focuses a full 7.6cm (3 inches) in front of the hologram. One can imagine a sword fighter or rifle as comparable objects.

The plus for selecting a projected image is the incredible response you get from the public. You get one human response with depth but when the image actually comes out at you it is a totally different response. When people see depth they get close and appreciate the artwork. When the image pops out at you, the response is to step back with excitement.  The image actually forms in space above the surface and you can run your finger through it!

It is not possible, of course, to demonstrate the depth the hologram gives without having a physical copy to hold and move around.

You can get a copy of the ad by simply ordering the publication it is in (hmp4). It removes easily from the book and there are other ads with holograms in the book. The cost is inexpensive ($20) and can be ordered here.
